31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Misc

by fromsugarwithstyle

When it comes to your wardrobe it’s important to be able to keep the clothes you love nice. This way they will last you for years and still be in good shape. It’s a tiny investment to get some of these things but they will save you money in the long run when you don’t have to keep replacing staples in your closet. Good advice is to ALWAYS read the label of any piece of clothing before washing and follow those directions. I have learned this the hard way many times!….Here are a few things that are needed to keep you comfortable and your clothes in good shape.

1- A Tide white stick- saves your basic white tees and Jeans

2- Velvet hangers- Wont damage your clothes and also look very uniform in your closet when all matching.

3- A lingerie bag- Much easier than washing by hand all of the time.

4-A bra ball

5- Ball of foot pads- Get a few packages of these along with the no slip stickers for the bottoms. They really save your feet.

6- Double sided tape- Great for keeping things in place!

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Makeup

by fromsugarwithstyle

I can’t write about creating a wardrobe without talking about makeup because it’s an essential part of certain outfits. If you’re like me, you have some days where you just don’t feel like putting anything on your face besides sunscreen and mascara and other days where you may be wearing a great dress and want to add some punch to the look. Here are my essentials for making your wardrobe pop.

1- Red Lipstick-  timeless and classic.

2- Nude lipstick- For when you want a dramatic eye.

3- A bright, fun lip stick- I love Revlons Orange Flip or Persian Melon.

4- A smoky eye palate.

5- A thickening mascara- This one from Tarte is by far my favorite.

6- A brightening blush

7- Bronzer- works great as a blush as well for more neutral days.

8- A Foundation primer-  Personally I only use this when I have a big event or an audition but its great to have when you want to be all done up!

9- A foundation that matches your skin tone and skin type- I am a big fan of tinted moisturizer as a foundation also. For a less pricy foundation I use Maybeline Dream Liquid Mousse- Its amazing!

10- Black liquid eyeliner

11- Neutral eyeshadow- for day.

12- An Illuminator- Great for summer beach days.

14- A selection of makeup brushes- I LOVE the line from Eco Tools sold in drug stores

15- Eyelash curler- I suggest using this every day to open up your eyes.

16- Manacured nails- having nicly done nails helps make your look put together and clean.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Jewelry

by fromsugarwithstyle

jewelry is such a personal thing. It’s hard to make a list of staples when so many people have sentimental pieces or engagement rings along with preferring a certain type of metal.  I prefer yellow gold because that’s what my cross necklace is made of. My mom had it made for me 2 birthdays ago from her and my grandmas engagement and wedding rings. It’s the most important thing I own and if possible I would never take it off. I put together a group of pieces that compliment outfits no matter what your style. Mix and match metals as you like.

1- A mens style watch

2- A sport watch for running or hiking

3- A statement necklace

4- A pendant necklace- great with a blazer and simple tee.

5- A cocktail ring- This one is crazy expensive but you can find perfect ones at stores like Forever 21.

6- A cuff- Adds some edge.

7- Gold bangals- I love how simple these are and can be paired with almost anything.

8- Drop earings- For a night out.

9- Simple diamond or pearl studs- adds polish and class.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Scarves & Belts

by fromsugarwithstyle

Scarves and belts are things that you can have so many of. They are a great way to change-up or add flair to an outfit and can also make transitioning what you are wearing from day to night a breeze. Scarves can be worn in a variety of different ways around your neck or can be added to the handle of a bag to dress it up or worn as a cover up at the beach. Belts are a great way to make an ordinary shift dress into something polished that shows the silhouette of your body. Here are my staples.

1- A light weight scarf in a print- These are great to tie on your hand bag.

2- A bright

3- Solid black- I get so much wear out of my black scarves

4- A knit for those cold days where you still want to be chic.

5- A wide belt- Great for a pair of jeans and a Tee

6- A selection of skinny belts- These will have the most function in your wardrobe.

7- A wide synching belt- I’m usually not a fan of these but with the right one on the right dress they can add just the right amount of curve.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Sunglasses & Hats

by fromsugarwithstyle

Sunglasses and hats can be tricky because you have to shop around to find out which ones work with your face shape and head size. I have found that larger framed sunglasses and floppier hats work best on me ( I have longed to be able to where small wayfarers!) but that is definitely not the case with everyone. The best thing to do is head to a store where there are lots of options and see what works best on you. Both Hats and sunglasses are a great way to polish off an outfit and also be practical.

1- A black pair in a classic shape

2- A pair with some fun or an edge- I like aviators. Wayfarers , a pattern or a bright color are also great choices.

3- A pair for sport- You don’t want them falling off your face as you hike or run.

4- S straw brimmed hat for the beach

5- A cute snow hat

6- A fedora- There are many style options for these and are great for a day when your hair just isn’t working

7- A knit- For when its cooler but not cold

8- A cap- I don’t pay attention to sports or I would have a team hat!….these are great for the gym or when you are going to be outside active for a while.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Bags

by fromsugarwithstyle

If I had to choose one thing to spend a bit more money on it would be bags. When you get one in good quality they last forever and can make your outfit look upscale even if you got it at forever 21. Now I don’t have the budget for a Louis Vuitton but with some shopping around you can find a great bag, from a great designer at a price that wont topple you over! Try checking out Loehmanns, Nordstrom Rack or Ebay.

1- A cross body bag for traveling.

2- An everyday black bag- Big enough to carry a water bottle. Having both a black and a neutral color is best.

3-A beach tote.

4- A bright colored clutch- Makes a basic black dress pop.

5- Gym bag- May not seem necessary but gym clothes get sweaty and having a place just for them is nice.

6- A small bag that goes from day to night- wouldn’t it be nice to have a classic Chanel? Where’s the outlet!:-)

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Jackets

by fromsugarwithstyle

For years I had 2 jackets. One for cool weather and one for cold weather. I didn’t really care if they matched what I was wearing underneath. Now I know that a jacket can make or break an outfit. Along with keeping you warm they are key pieces to your personal style. After all a jacket is the first thing people see when you go out.

1- Black leather jacket- You can wear this with anything from a dress to jeans and it adds a great edge.

2- A peacoat- Perfect for colder weather and adds polish.

3- A Denim Jacket- I am not a fan of the denim on denim look but over a dress a jean jacket is key.

4- Blazers- a few of these add a great balance to your wardrobe.

5- A classic trench- You don’t need a Burberry to find a nice one. They are classy and great as a rain coat too!

6- Fleece Jacket- North face is my favorite choice- great for outdoor activities.

7-  A winter or ski jacket.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Heels

by fromsugarwithstyle

Heels are my weakness. I tend to have way more than I need and not enough shoes that I can actually wear every day. I hear this is a trend with us girls! However if you’re going to be more practical with your wardrobe and start with the basics these are the heels you should have.

1- A nude pump- They go with just about everything and don’t compete with your outfit.

2- A basic black heel- If you were to only have one heel this should be it.

3-A Peep toe- doesn’t have to be a cage look like this, but something that shows those pedicures!

4- A Statement heel- A bold color or funky print is the best way to go.

5- A wooden heel for day- These are great with summer dresses and shorts.

6-A wedge- Much more comfortable than the high heel but still give you a confident lift.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Boots

by fromsugarwithstyle

Finding staples when it comes to boots is one of the harder wardrobe tasks.  There are many options and they tend to be pricier then any other shoe. These are 7 that are worth investing in.

1- Flat riding boots- A must have for fall and so versatile I could almost wear them every day

2- A flat or a low heel ankle boot- These happen to be in a cowboy boot style but they don’t have to be!

3- Booties- If you only have one pair make them black

4- A chunky heel low or high boot- for when you want to wear a heel but still be able to walk

5- Ugg boots-  disclaimer -I am in no way saying that ugg boots should be used as an outfit staple or that its ok to wear them with a jean skirt if you are over 13 BUT  when you need to make a late night run to the grocery store or walk to dog on a windy morning there is nothing better than slipping these on!

6- Rain boots- these have saved me many times

7- Winter boots- If you live in a warmer state you can forgo these boots but they are VERY necessary for the snowy winter.

31 Days Of Creating A Wardrobe- Sandals

by fromsugarwithstyle

Sandals are fairly simple. You only need a few pairs to round out that part of your wardrobe and always have an option. Of course if you’re like me you’ll have 12 pairs sitting in your closet!. Good thing I live in California!

1- Flip flops- A MUST have- perfect for slipping on and heading out the door- My favorite are Reef because they end up forming to your feet and are super comfortable. Havaianas are also a great option.

2- A Brown pair

3- A black pair

4- Sandals that you can hike in- These are also great for theme park vacations

5- A pair that make a statement- Whether it be a bold color, fringe, metallic or studs.
