Guest Posting and Dress Shopping

by fromsugarwithstyle

Today I am heading out to my first dress shop to look at wedding dresses! I have never even tried on a wedding dress before so I am both excited and a bit nervous. I have always had this dream dress that I made up in my head and I’m terrified that I won’t find one nearly as perfect in real life. Do people really just know the dress is the ONE when they try it on??? I’m hoping that this happens for me because I tend to be very indecisive and change my mind a lot. ( My mom can testify to that. She hated school clothes shopping with me for that reason! )….Actually the more I type this out the more excited I become! I have been browsing the internet for months looking at dresses and I am slightly in love with a couple that I am going to see today! Wish me luck!

Also yesterday I had a guest posting over at CreativeKristi.com all about what to wear at a blog conference! Check it out!

Happy Valentines Day!

by fromsugarwithstyle

Valentines Day is my second favorite holiday of the year ( My first being Christmas of course ). I am a huge girly romantic so a day that celebrates love and that is decked out in pink is my perfect kind of day! ( The flowers and dark chocolate don’t hurt either ). I didn’t have a chance to bake anything this year. My wedding plans have taken over any and all spare time it seems!…but here are some lovely treats I have found while browsing online that I thought I would share. Hopefully next year I’ll get to try some out!

Happy Birthday Jason

by fromsugarwithstyle

This past weekend we celebrated my fiance’s birthday. Since he wasn’t here on his actual birthday ( it was on February 2nd and he was on base) I wanted to make it special from the moment he walked in the door. I decorated our place with balloons and signs and had a gift and a cake waiting for him on the table. He wanted a cake made like the one I did for my friends 2 yr old. You can find it  here as a post on CreativeKristi.com. I changed up the colors but used the same technique. This one was chocolate with Nutella filling and vanilla butter cream. My only problem with this cake was that the black icing took on an awful flavor because of the food coloring. I had to scrape the black parts off of my piece. Does anyone have a trick for making black icing that tastes good?? Oh! and that is also genuinely black? This one was sort of dark purple.

Mint Green

by fromsugarwithstyle

Even though winter is still in full gear I cant help but love the light colors of spring. Maybe it’s because where I live in California it has yet to dip below 70 during the day and lighter clothes just seem appropriate. Or it could be that I spend so much time looking at bright wedding colors they have slowly started creeping into my wardrobe. Either way mint green is becoming one of my coveted colors of choice. It’s so fresh and crisp and since it’s still unique color it adds something unexpected to an outfit. Here are some of my favorite mint green items.

Christmas Saving

by fromsugarwithstyle

As I was reading one of my Dave Ramsey emails this morning I came across an article about saving for Christmas. It talks about how people seem to think Christmas sneaks up on them and that so many people fall into debt or can’t afford what they want to give because they didn’t prepare for the holiday. This is one of the things I have been passionate about for a years!…About 2 years ago now on January 1st  I started a Christmas box..at the time is was just a cardboard box that I painted and cut a slit in the top. I would put at least 1 dollar a day in it sometimes 5 or 10 if I had extra to save for Christmas. By December 1st that year I had 800 dollars! I have now started special bank account for my Christmas money but I am doing the same thing. It makes Christmas not seem like so much of a burden and I can actually give gifts free off stress!….1 dollar a day is a great way to start because its money that you don’t really miss but it can add up when you do it for a whole year!

I wrote an entire post for CreativeKristi.com last year which you can read here talking about my Christmas box. It’s one of the best budget plans I have ever done for myself and I would recommend it 100%!
